Emily Sawyer, 16, hails from Wrentham and is a junior at King Philip Regional High School. A force to be reckoned with on the volleyball and basketball courts for the Warriors, Emily has been consistently training at Elite since December, 2020. She started out at Elite by participating in a team strength and conditioning for her club volleyball team.  She enjoyed the experience so much that she then transitioned into Elite’s Athlete Training Membership program and has been training hard at Elite ever since.

Emily quickly realized that strength training could help her tremendously on the court and decided to continue to train through her Fall 2 volleyball season as well as her spring AAU basketball season. After training at Elite, Emily found herself more physical around the paint (on offense and defense!) in basketball and able to jump higher and serve harder in volleyball. As Emily continued to train at Elite, her performance improved in both sports as she began to average 24 points per game on the basketball court and scored 32 points during a US Junior Nationals tournament! As for volleyball, Emily is currently #1 in hits in the entire state of Massachusetts. She loves seeing all of her hard work at Elite transfer to the court and continues to train consistently to take her performance to the next level with the goal of one day playing at the college level.

As a multi-sport athlete at KP, Emily realized the importance of consistent training to stay healthy and to elevate her game. She prioritizes her training and looks forward to getting better at every training session. Whether she is walking off the court from practice or coming in early before coaching camps, Emily makes time to train, and the results show!

Emily has made a point to continue to train during her volleyball and basketball seasons as she values the strength, power and speed that she has worked so hard to gain and does not want to lose it during her season. She enjoys Elite’s flexibility in training schedules, which offers various training sessions throughout the day as her practice and game schedule is constantly changing.  Even through the challenges of her ever-changing schedule, Emily always manages to get her training sessions in! The numbers speak for themselves; take a look below to see just how much Emily has improved since beginning to train at Elite!

Emily is one of the hardest working athletes at Elite. Her commitment to training has led to excellent improvements in her sports performance. She is stronger on the court and is able to establish her dominance in the paint in basketball and at the net in volleyball. Coach Katie McCarthy, BS, CSCS is beyond proud of her success on the court as well as the weight room. Coach Katie believes Emily is just tapping into her full potential and this is just the beginning of her success. Emily says that a true athlete “needs to be driven, determined, and hard-working,” and she is a perfect example of all of these attributes!

After high school, Emily hopes to continue her educational and athletic pursuits at the college level and study business. Elite is excited to announce Emily Sawyer as Athlete of the Month for October 2021! Congratulations Emily, we are so proud of you!  Good luck with the remainder of your volleyball season and upcoming basketball season!
